Heather Lauren Jones is a board-certified OBGYN. She values the opportunity in caring for women by developing connections with her patients and providing exceptional care. Dr. Jones attended Spelman College, graduating with honors. She completed medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While there, she developed interests in global health and developing her medical Spanish. She was awarded a scholarship for her work in Cape Town, South Africa with a focus on women’s health through Child Family Health International.
She completed residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, a program well-known for management of high risk pregnancies. During her time there, she published research in the International Journal of Women’s Health. Dr. Jones graduated with awards including “Recognition of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology Worldwide “and “Outstanding Clinical Teaching by a Resident.”
Dr. Jones currently serves on the Associate Board of Directors with Amref Health Africa, the largest NGO based in Africa dedicated to healthcare challenges. She is committed to improving maternal child health and maternal mortality both locally and globally. She also serves on a Global Health Expert Panel in her field to share her knowledge and expertise with Jasper Colin, a global research firm.
Her special interests include general obstetrics, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, global health, family planning, adolescent health and advocating for women’s rights.
